Burn Run is this weekend

by Minden Press-Herald

The 14th annual Brothers Keepers Motorcycle Club of Shreveport’s Burn Run will be Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 to benefit the Ark-La-Tex Burn Foundation and Camp I’m Still Me.

The event will begin at 5 p.m., Friday, and at 9 a.m., Saturday at Lake Bistineau State Park, Area 1, located at 103 State Park Road in Doyline. Live music, vendors and an auction will be held in addition to a poker run. Admission is free and registration for the poker run is $25.

Camping is available through the state park, but call 225-219-0116 to let them know it is for the burn run.

Camp I’m Still Me is held every summer in Scottsville, Texas, at the Scottsville Camp and Conference Center. The camp is for children ages five through 17 who have suffered from burn injuries and is free to all campers, including meals and supplies.

The camp is staffed with a burn care team, doctors, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, teachers, social workers, firefighters and adult burn survivors.

Burn survivors from all over Louisiana enjoy activities such as fishing, arts and crafts, swimming, boating, canoeing, volleyball, baseball and much more.

The Brothers Keepers Motorcycle Club in Shreveport is one made up of firefighters with 20 chapters in six states, one in Canada and one in Australia. They support local and national charities throughout the year.
