Funeral services for Byretha Hamilton will be at 11 a.m Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 at St. Rest Baptist Church. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Byretha Hamilton, a resident of Minden, passed away at her home on Oct. 13, 2015. Byretha was known around the community for her famous “Bye’s Peanut & Pecan Brittle,” which she handmade every winter and sold to people near and far.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, C.L. Hamilton. She is survived by her sisters, Nancy Kenny, Estelle Jones, and Patsy Turner; and her children, Wanda Bradford, Elena Black, Donald “Ray” Hamilton (Rita, deceased), Janice Hamilton-Crawford (Perry), and Dedri Lewis (Kelvin). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Rest Baptist Church, where Byretha served and was a faithful member for nearly 60 years.
