Carlton Curry
Carlton Bernard Curry was born Jan. 21, 1962 to John and Curtis D. Curry in Shreveport. Carlton completed his earthly journey on the morning of Nov. 3, 2015.
He was reared in Minden and attended Minden High School and graduated with the Class of 1980. After his high school graduation he briefly attended Southern University in Baton Rouge.
With the blessing of being reared in a Christian home, Carlton accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized. He had a great love for people and would help anyone in need. He was a great father and took very good care of his three sons.
He was a career truck driver for over 23 years, traveling from coast to coast. During his tenure as a driver, he was featured in Forbes Magazine as “Truck Driver of the Year”.
He loved to cook, collect classic cars and his favorite pastime was watching the New Orleans Saints, so when the “Saints Go Marching In” he will be in the number.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother Ms. Curtis M. Curry, Minden; three sons Carlton Jr (CC) and John, Dubblerly; and Carrington, Minden; and his sister Wendy Dowell White (Kendrick), Bossier City; aunts, Faye Brewer, Minden; Reecie Moore (Pastor Moore), Minden; Gladys Nelson (John), Minden; Clara Hill (Willie), Baton Rouge, LA; and Vernell Dowell, Minden, LA; uncles, Billy Curry, Dallas, TX; Tommie Curry (Yolanda), Gibsland; Jerry Curry Jr, Bossier City; Glenn Curry, Bossier City; Oliver Curry, Sibley; Curtis Dowell Jr, Minden, Ronnie Dowell (Darlene), Shreveport; and Donnie Dowell (Pamela), Minden; cousins and a host of friends. He will be missed.
Funeral services for Carlton Bernard Curry will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at the 14th District Building with the Rev. John A. Fincher officiating. Interment will follow at the Pringer Place Cemetery.
