Charleszetta Wilson McClendon, the third child to the union of the late Charlie Wilson Jr. and Hazel Walker Wilson, was born on Sept. 7, 1941 in Minden. She was of Baptist faith and spent her youth as a devoted member of St. Rest Baptist Church in Minden under the pastorage of the Rev. B. F. Martin.

She graduated from Webster High School in 1958, Southern University (B.S.), Louisiana Tech University (M.A. Plus 30), and further studied at Louisiana State University and Centenary College. She served 37 years as a librarian in the Caddo Parish School system.

Charleszetta departed this life on Jan. 23, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Robert Lee and husband Dock McClendon Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Betty W. Malveaux (Eugene) of Atlanta, Ga; nieces and nephews, Frances Malveaux of Tampa, FL, Eugene John Malveaux, Jr. (Shannon) and their children, Jordan, Kennedy, and Braden) of Atlanta, GA, and Linda Malveaux of Atlanta, Ga; Frederick Paul Malveaux and daughter, Sydney of Atlanta, GA; special cousins, Melvin Wilson (Valerie), Zelda Thompson (Eddie), Gloria Finney, Sandra Sullivan (Floyd) and son, Cory, Renee Walker and son, Lamoine, Jackie Chapman (Herman) and Malitta Hartwell (Rickey); the family of her deceased husband, Dock McClendon, Jr.; and numerous relatives and friends. Funeral Services for Charleszetta Wilson McClendon will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at Springville United Baptist Church, located at 14719 LA 154 in Gibsland. The Rev. Julien Burns, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow at the Wilson Cemetery in Gibsland.
