The Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce is inviting local businesses, organizations, churches, schools, and clubs to help spread Christmas cheer by participating in the annual Christmas Cards to the Community display, part of the Christmas in Minden celebration.
The program features oversized, decorated Christmas cards displayed in the parks near the downtown Minden water tower, creating a colorful holiday attraction for residents and visitors throughout the Christmas season.
This year’s theme is “All Aboard the Minden Express,” although participants are welcome to create designs outside the theme. Cards may feature religious or secular Christmas messages, with creativity encouraged.
Participants can paint original artwork or use professionally printed banners to decorate their cards. Business names and logos are permitted, but the primary focus should be a Christmas greeting to the community.
Participation costs $125 for one 4-by-8-foot sheet of plywood or $175 for two sheets, allowing participants to create a folded, two-sided Christmas card. Those who wish to reuse plywood from last year’s display may participate for $50.
The Chamber will provide the plywood, but participants are responsible for decorating materials, lighting, and supports. Cards must be weather-resistant, as they will remain on display for approximately six weeks.
Plywood will be available for pickup at Interstate Building Materials, 301 Sibley Road, from 10 AM to 3 PM on weekdays through November 13. Completed cards must be delivered to the downtown water tower location November 19 between 11 AM and 1 PM.
The display will also feature a competition, with a $150 cash prize awarded for Best in Show and a $100 cash prize for People’s Choice. Winners will be announced December 10 during the Christmas Parade Awards Ceremony following the parade.
With thousands of vehicles and visitors expected to pass through downtown during the holiday season, the display offers participants an opportunity to share Christmas greetings while showcasing their creativity and community spirit.
The deadline to enter is Tuesday, November 10, at 3 PM. Space is limited, and late entries will not be accepted.
Entry forms and payment information are available on the Greater Minden Chamber’s website. Completed forms and payments may also be submitted to the Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce, 110 Sibley Road, Minden, LA 71055, or emailed to [email protected].
