Christmas in Minden 2025 officially began Friday night, December 12, with a tree lighting ceremony at City Hall that drew a strong crowd to downtown Minden.
The kickoff event featured Mayor Nick Cox, several members of the Minden City Council, other elected officials and civic leaders, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who helped open the holiday celebration. Mild temperatures added to the evening, following several days of colder weather.

Entertainment during the ceremony included performances by the Minden High School choir, which sang several Christmas carols, and dancers from Cydni’s School of Dance, who presented multiple routines.

Several Christmas in Minden activities were also underway throughout downtown Friday evening, including the Holiday Trail of Lights hayride, the Downtown Minden Wine Walk and the Presents on Pearl vendor market.

Mayor Cox addressed the crowd during the ceremony, highlighting the meaning behind the event and the season.
“There’s no better place to be at Christmas than right here in downtown Minden,” Cox said. “The reason we light the tree is to remember the Light of the world, and the Light of the world is Jesus. And I just want to say that I’m proud to be the mayor of a city that is proud that we celebrate the Light of the world.”
Festivities continue Saturday with the Presents on Pearl vendor market from 11AM to 6PM and holiday activities at the Germantown Colony Museum from 1PM to 4PM. A Hometown Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday evening in downtown Minden at 5PM.
The Christmas in Minden celebration concludes Sunday with the Christmas Tour of Homes, set for 1PM to 6PM.
