Santa and his friends will roll through the streets of Minden at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2 when the Minden Evening Lions Club and Minden Main Street join forces to co-sponsor the annual Christmas Parade.
Parade chairman Tommy McMurray said participants will begin lining up at 3 p.m. Tuesday on Second Street behind First United Methodist Church. Organizers ask that participants do not bring trailers or floats prior to 3 p.m. and leave them unattended.
McMurray said sponsors are urging groups who plan to join in the parade to follow additional guidelines. Those include:
All floats are urged to decorate with lights and to have Christmas music if possible.
Performing groups are asked not to stop and perform during the parade.
If candy or other trinkets are thrown from floats, an adult member must walk either side of the float to ensure safety.
“The Minden Lions Club will be responsible for the appearance of Santa Claus in the parade and participants are asked to refrain from having additional Santas in their displays,” McMurray said. “Elves and Mrs. Santas will be permitted.”
