City league football back in full swing

Minden’s city league football got underway last Monday and there was plenty of action on display at the Minden Recreation Complex.

Here are the results from Monday and Tuesday’s games last week.

Minden Athletic vs. Mohawks

In 5th and 6th grade league action Minden Athletic defeated the Mohawks 31-6.

Leading the way for Minden Athletic was Darryl Thomas. Thomas totaled 194 yards in the game and scored three touchdowns. Collin Lane Richard had 66 yards and a touchdown and Asa Greer also scored a 40 yard touchdown.

Ja’Colby Snell led the Mohawks with 25 yards. Evan Thomas was next with 17, then Nathan Ben with 16, Kevin Johnson with 15, Isaiah Jones with 12 and Khyrese Taylor had eight yards and the only Mohawks touchdown.

Defensive leaders for Minden Athletic were Ladarius Smith, Jaquez Jackson and Dylan Cate.

Defensive leaders for the Mohawks were Khyrese Taylor, Ja’Colby Snell, Nathan Ben and Kameron Talley.

Cooper Tire Cobras vs. Acuren Rays

In the 2nd – 4th grade division the Cooper Tire Cobras got a victory over the Acuren Rays, 13-0.

Cooper Tire was led by Jaylin Williams who had a monster game with 138 yards and two touchdowns. Daylen Robinson had 24 tough
yards for the Cobras, Dexter Smith had 23 and Dimico Prince contributed with five yards.

For the Acuren Rays, Tyrell Siah had 57 hard-earned yards to lead the way.

Defensive leaders for the Rays were Elliot Sheppard, Luke Vining, Nolan Garms and Victor Gipson.

Defensive leaders for the Cooper Tire Cobras were Jacob King, Isaviyon Emerson, Daniel Sites, Jaylin Williams and Daylen Robinson.

Little Tiders vs. Saints

There was plenty of action in the second game of 2nd-4th grade action as well, with the Little Tiders winning a close one over the Saints, 26-19.

Leading the charge for the Little Tiders was Jamaria Clark who was on fire, accounting for 225 yards and four touchdowns.

Jamarion Williams had a good game also with 50 yards, Ty’Jaylyn Kemp and Brenna Benton each had 10 yards for the Little Tiders also.

Jordan Coleman had a whale of a game himself to pace the Saints offense. Coleman had 197 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Jacob Whitehead and Cade Boley were next with 25 yards a piece.

The defensive standouts for the Little Tiders were Nicholas Taylor, Jamaria Clark, Josh Sebald and Brenna Benton.

Defensive stars for the Saints were Cade Boley, Jekoye’Knowles, Hosston Duck and Al Edwards Jr.
