In a heart-warming display of unity, the City of Springhill proudly celebrated the dedication of its newest communal haven, the Marge Campbell Bird and Butterfly Park, located at 404 N Giles Street in Springhill. The cost of the entire project, complete with landscaping and an irrigation system, was paid for by long-standing community members Jo and Jan Campbell in memory of their late mother Marge Campbell. This vibrant addition to our city’s landscape stands as a testament to the collective dedication and generosity of community members who rallied together to make the dream of this space a reality.
Jo and Jan Campbell would like to extend their warmest and most sincere gratitude to Donnie Hough, Kathleen Reynolds Price, Linda Edens, Jeff and Kathy Jackson, Michael Vercher, Shirley Vercher, the Vercher Garden Center, Michelle Benson Lewis, Lydia Grant Smith, the family of Carolyn Glasscock, and Amie Poladian with the Springhill Main Street program for helping see this project make its way to fruition through the donation of both time and items for use in the beautiful, new landscaping.
Mayor Ray Huddleston spoke at the event saying, “We’d like to thank everyone involved in the project for their unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for everyone in Springhill. We hope that this and other community improvement projects ignite a feeling of pride in our residents and encourages the people in Springhill that each one of us have the capacity to make a difference.”
The Marge Campbell Bird and Butterfly Memorial Park will serve as a reminder that when the community unites for a common cause, remarkable transformations are possible. As people gather and friendships bloom within the park’s embrace, the City of Springhill can take pride in the fact that its newest gem is a manifestation of the shared dreams and aspirations of a tight knit community.
