Civil Service Board upholds termination of former Minden police lieutenant

by Minden Press-Herald

The Minden Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board voted unanimously Thursday to uphold the termination of former Minden Police Lt. Christopher Hammontree following a more than six-hour appeal hearing.

Police Chief Jared McIver confirmed the board’s decision, saying the termination stands after the lengthy proceedings held October 9.

Hammontree, a 16-year veteran of the department, had been placed on administrative leave with pay earlier this year after being charged with simple criminal damage to property. He was later terminated following an internal investigation.

The board’s ruling concludes the civil service appeal process, though Hammontree retains the right to pursue further legal remedies if he chooses.
