Claiborne Parish School Board selects Chris Brooks as new superintendent

by Minden Press-Herald

In a move that stayed close to home, the Claiborne Parish School Board has chosen Chris Brooks of Haynesville as the next superintendent of schools. The decision was made during a special meeting on Wednesday morning.

Brooks, currently serving as the supervisor of secondary instruction and career technical education for the district, has been in this role since June. His experience includes serving as the principal of Haynesville Jr./Sr. High and as the assistant principal at North Webster High. Additionally, Brooks has a background as a teacher and baseball coach at schools in Webster and Caddo parishes.

Having obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in arts/education from Northwestern State University, Brooks furthered his education with a plus-30 in educational administration from the University of Louisiana-Monroe.

Brooks was one of three candidates who applied for the position, which became available due to the retirement of Superintendent William Kennedy.
