Clara DuboisClara Edwards Dubois was born Nov. 13, 1957, in Shreveport to the late Abraham and Viola Salsberry. She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age at New Light Baptist Church. Later in life, she united with Union Grove Baptist Church where she truly loved her church family.

Clara was a very outspoken, caring and free spirited person who was not afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind. She was well known for personality and humor. Clara inspired a lot of people in her own way.

She was a 1975 graduate of Minden High School. She was later employed at Town & Country Nursing Home for 33 years.

Clara departed this earthly life Jan. 8, 2015, at Minden Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Remerson Edwards Sr. and one sister, Carolyn Salsberry.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Terri Edwards; three sons, Terrence Edwards, Jamarcus Edwards and Stephen Edwards (Dominsha); 12 grandchildren, Phillip (Bop). Brittany, T’Ijahia, Keyuna, Sa’miya, X’Zarel, Samuel, Kyriel, Tytrell, Tietieana, Jayceon and Ja’Niya; one great-grandchild, Zy’Keylen; one sister, Ophelia Green (David); one brother, the Rev. James Edwards (JoAnn) of Minden; aunt, Earnestine Kinsey (Therman) of Kileen, Texas; uncle, Johnny Edwards of Minden; a special friend and daughter, Shirley and Lakita Jackson of Minden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, at Union Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Alvin Shelton and the Rev. James Edwards will officiate.

Services are entrusted to Kennon’s Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16 with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. in the chapel of Kennon’s Mortuary.
