College baseball: Bulldogs roll past Northern Colorado in opener

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs opened the season with a 9-3 victory over Northern Colorado Friday night in Ruston.

Seven Bulldogs combined for eight hits. Jorge Corona went 2-for-3.

Kasten Furr had a single and two RBI. Ethan Bates had a double.

Tech starter Reed Smith allowed five hits, walked three and struck out five in 4 1/3 innings. 

Grant Hubka, who went the final four innings, got the win. He gave up two hits and walked none while striking out six.

The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
