College football: Bradford leads Grambling State past UAPB

The Grambling State Tigers ended a two-game slide with a 20-16 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Saturday in Pine Bluff, Ark.

Grambling State improved to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the SWAC. Arkansas-Pine Bluff dropped to 3-4 and 1-2.

Tre Bradford’s 3-yard touchdown run with 1:42 left in the game gave the Tigers the 20-16 lead.

The 13-play, 65-yard drive came after the Golden Lions recovered a a fumble by GSU quarterback C’zavian Teasett at the Tigers 24 with 8:57 left in the game.

UAPB  had a first-and-goal at the 4 but the Tigers defense forced the Golden Lions to kick a 20-yard field goal with 7:16 left.

UAPB reached the GSU 30 on its final possession but the Tigers’ Markel Linzer broke up a pass on the last play.

Bradford led GSU with 123 yards rushing on 25 carries. He scored the Tigers first touchdown on a 12-yard run in the second quarter.

Teasett completed 18-of-29 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown with one interception. His 6-yard TD pass to Jordan McBride gave the Tigers a 14-7 lead with 5:31 left in the third quarter.

McBride finished with five catches for 43 yards. Keith Jones Jr. had three for 43.

The Golden Lions took the lead with three field goals in the fourth quarter.

GSU finished with 300 total yards. UAPB had 320.

Grambling State faces Jackson Stste in the Las Vegas HBCU Classic Saturday at 5 p.m.

Jackson State (5-1, 3-0) was off this week.
