RUSTON — Louisiana Tech’s Jack Turner was selected to the 2024 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, announced Wednesday by the organization.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is given annually to the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or currently playing at a Texas DI four-year college.
Turner, a native of Round Rock, Texas, will be LA Tech’s starting quarterback heading into the 2024 season. He has seen action in 11 career games as a Bulldog over the last two seasons, including four starts in 2023.
The redshirt junior completed 84 of his 148 passing attempts for 1,017 passing yards with five touchdowns last season. In his first career start at LA Tech, he threw for a season-high 292 yards and one touchdown at Nebraska. He proceeded to start the next three games during CUSA play, including a victory at UTEP.
Turner and the Bulldogs open the season on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Nicholls inside Joe Aillet Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
