The Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau Commission will hold a special meeting to discuss a resolution to increase local hotel occupancy tax collections.
At its quarterly meeting in April, commissioners tabled a resolution to adopt an ordinance to raise hotel occupancy taxes by two percent over concerns the tax was already high enough. Visitors who stay in hotels currently pay a 14.5 percent tax.
The purpose of the resolution was to bring in money for the Tax Increment Financing Districts the City of Minden wants to implement and to help bring in revenue if a 15 percent cut is made to tourism statewide.
The commission will meet at 8 a.m. Friday in the boardroom of the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce. The meeting is open to the public.
