Living in Louisiana, we are fortunate with an average of 220 days of frost-free weather, and occasionally, we can have up to 259 frost free days. Even when we get cool days and nights that produce low temperatures you can plant crops that are cool weather tolerant. Even though plants are cool tolerant, it does not mean they will not be damaged if there are abrupt temperatures change from warm to cold or prolonged exposure to below freezing temperatures. Below are examples of vegetables that are cool weather tolerant:
Some of you may be thinking I do not have room for a traditional in-ground garden. There is a simple solution; several of the vegetables listed do well in a raised bed, in window boxes, or simply in 5-gallon buckets. You do not need a large amount of space to enjoy vegetable gardening.
