Cullen girl, 4, injured during home invasion

by Minden Press-Herald

CULLEN — A 4-year-old girl is recovering after receiving a severe injury to her stomach after her sister threw her out of a window to escape a home intruder.

Police Chief Mary Hoof said the incident happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday when a 16-year-old girl heard a noise at the back door of the home in the 700 block of East Road. The teen told police she went to the door and when she opened it, someone with a “white face” and red shirt entered the home.

The teen then reportedly ran to the bedroom where the toddler and another 1-year-old relative was and busted out the window. Hoof said the teen threw the 4-year-old out of the window before jumping out while holding the 1-year-old.

The 4-year-old suffered a cut to her abdomen area and was flown to University Health in Shreveport, where she underwent surgery. Hoof said she was in good condition Wednesday evening.

The names of the three girls have not been released.

Hoof said they have yet to identify a suspect or person of interest in the home invasion.

She dismissed the notion the intruder was a clown, of which sightings have plagued the nation in recent weeks.
