A Dubberly woman was arrested early Friday morning following a domestic disturbance reported in the 800 block of Carolina Street.
Just after midnight on June 21, Minden police were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the responding officer made contact with Aleshia Burks, 24, who showed no signs of physical injury. Burks alleged that her boyfriend had punched her in the face and refused to return her belongings after she confronted him about an alleged affair.
The officer then interviewed the boyfriend, who claimed Burks had entered the apartment without permission while he was with his daughter. He stated that Burks initiated a verbal altercation over the alleged affair, which escalated into physical violence. According to his account, Burks punched him, causing small lacerations to his nose and mouth. His daughter, attempting to intervene, was also struck by Burks, sustaining a broken fingernail, ripped shirt, and a pulled-off wig.
During the investigation, Burks admitted to striking her boyfriend, justifying her actions by stating he deserved it. A third witness corroborated the boyfriend and his daughter’s accounts. The witness observed Burks walking from her cousin’s apartment at the intersection of Lee Street and Carolina Street to the boyfriend’s residence, contradicting Burks’ claim that she was picked up and invited over.
Based on the injuries and witness statements, Burks was arrested and transported to the Minden Police Department. She has been charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and battery of a dating partner.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
