One of Minden’s most anticipated annual traditions is set to return next month as the 8th Annual Greater Minden Chamber Duck Derby Extravaganza prepares to take center stage during the America 250/Minden 190 celebration weekend.
The fundraiser, presented by The Mosaic Company and organized by the Greater Minden Chamber, will be held Saturday, June 13, in downtown Minden. The duck race is scheduled to begin at 7 PM and will be followed by a community fireworks display.
Over the past several years, the Duck Derby has become a favorite local tradition, drawing families, businesses, and community supporters together for an evening of entertainment and friendly competition.
This year’s event will be incorporated into the city’s three-day America 250 and Minden 190 celebration, which commemorates the nation’s 250th anniversary and Minden’s 190th birthday. Organizers expect large crowds throughout the weekend as residents and visitors gather for races, competitions, live entertainment, food, and family activities.
Participants can purchase racing ducks for a chance to win cash prizes. Ticket options include a single racing duck for $5, a Quack Pack of five ducks for $20, a Quacker’s Dozen of 12 ducks for $50, or a Flock of Ducks package featuring 25 ducks for $100.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishers, including a $1,000 grand prize, a $500 second-place prize, and a $250 third-place prize.
Organizers noted that ticket holders do not have to be present to win. However, attendees who choose to attend the event can enjoy an evening featuring live music, food vendors, patriotic festivities, family activities, and the fireworks finale that will conclude the America 250/Minden 190 celebration.
Duck Derby tickets are available through the Greater Minden Chamber Duck Derby ticket page.
The race is one of several marquee events scheduled during the June 11-13 celebration weekend in downtown Minden, joining longtime favorites such as Grilling on Main, the Pet Mayor Election, and Run Minden on Main. Together, the events are expected to bring thousands of residents and visitors to the downtown district for what organizers describe as a once-in-a-generation community celebration.
