Spots are available for employers who want to keep up with the latest changes in employer laws, workers comp and other topics at the 2016 Employer Seminar.
Sponsored by the Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce, The Fleming Group, The Coordinating & Development Corporation, and the Louisiana Workforce Commission, the seminar is set for 1 until 4 p.m., at Northwest Louisiana Technical College in Minden, located at 9500 Industrial Dr.
Topics of discussion include hiring individuals with barriers to employment, what’s new with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, workers compensation, and an update on employment and labor laws.
Chamber President and CEO Jerri de Pingre’ says the seminar is based on current issues in the legislature or events that have caused laws to change.
“It would be anything that employers are not familiar with or paid attention to,” she said.
Speakers include:
- Brian Carnie – Attorney at Law, specializing in Labor and Employment
- Elizabeth Williams and Jim-bo Carinio – Rehabilitation Employment Development Specialist, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services
- Stephen Harris – Employer Outreach Liaison, Louisiana Workforce Commission
- Judy Franklin, Mediator – Office of Worker’s Compensation, Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The seminar is $25 per person if they are a chamber member, and future chamber members are $35 per person.
