LOUISIANA – Entergy Solutions is encouraging farmers and agribusinesses to apply this year to receive a cash incentive for making energy-saving upgrades to their equipment and facilities. The program aims to alleviate the economic burden of this summer’s statewide record-breaking heat.
Entergy Solutions is a free energy efficiency program open to all Entergy Louisiana customers and has a dedicated sector for the state’s agriculture industry. Cash incentives are available for energy-saving upgrades to ventilation, lighting, refrigeration, irrigation, variable frequency drives and more.
“Due to excessive heat and drought, farmers are experiencing high fuel prices, overworked irrigation systems and forced herd reduction, amounting to millions in unexpected losses,” said Heather LeBlanc, Entergy Louisiana, resource planning. “We want to ensure customers take advantage of this opportunity before the end of the year.”
Sign-up and participation in the Entergy Solutions program is a simple process. Once a customer provides contact information and the project address, a program energy advisor will reach out to schedule a site visit and assist with the application. After an application is pre-approved, a project plan is developed, and materials are ordered and installed. Program representatives conduct a post-installation site visit upon project completion and distribute the incentives.
Ragan & Massey co-owner Mike Massey took advantage of the program by upgrading lighting and cooling equipment and installing occupancy sensors. “After a short field audit of our electricity use, Entergy Solutions brought us a plan to dramatically reduce our electricity costs, along with proposals from the three approved contractors that’d be completing the work. We received about $27,000 for making our facility more energy efficient.”
In addition to energy savings, customers like Massey can benefit from lower maintenance costs and improved working conditions and safety. Cash incentives for custom projects are also available.
