Eula Jeanette Hester of Minden, age 94 passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, in Bossier City, Louisiana. Funeral services for Jeanette will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Minden. Revs. Leland Crawford and Steve Gilley officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Cross Roads Cemetery, Grayson, Louisiana. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Friday, July 5, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Jeanette was born October 26, 1924, in Joyce, Louisiana to Joseph William Burkhalter and Lena Catrina Oglesby Burkhalter. She graduated from Grayson High School in 1943. On October 21, 1944, she married the love of her life, Humphries Nolan “Sonny Boy” Hester, Jr. Of this union two children were born.
Jeanette enjoyed planting and found great joy in her beautiful flowers. She loved homemaking and cooking for her family. She also found great pleasure in her collection of ceramic hens and roosters. Jeanette found much joy in worshipping her God, loving on her family, as well as visiting with and loving on her church family. Jeanette was a true patriot and loved her country and President Trump. Up until the Lord called her home Jeanette continued to be of clear mind and sharp wit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sonny Boy; her son, Charles Nolan Hester; her brothers, Joseph Junior Burkhalter and James Iley Burkhalter; and one great grandson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dianne (and Gary) Bridges of Minden; daughter-in-law Evelyn Hester of Shreveport; four grandchildren and two step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Tommy John Hughes, Brian Kendrick, Ricky Lee, Wayne Booth, Bruce Hock, and Sammy Waller.
