Police officers Jesse Cutrer and Jeremy Sitter moved up in the ranks to Officer 1st Class at the city council meeting Monday.

These officers deserve a huge congratulations on passing the Officer 1st Class exam and on the great work they provide to the residents of the City of Minden.

It seems that the only news is bad news related to police officers and departments these days.

Trust in police has been shaken recently police shootings around the nation.

Sadly, some seem excited by the chance to pounce on all police each time this occurs.

Now is the time to commend the officers on a job well done.

Each day, Minden’s officers put their lives on the line and are trained to make life and death decisions at a moment’s notice to protect us.

While Minden has a low crime rate, officers never know what the next call will bring.

Each day, these officers leave their families and face potential dangers of all types.

What they do is so important to the safety of Minden’s precious citizens, yet it often goes unnoticed — and unappreciated.

Thanks Chief Steve Cropper for maintaining a good department, and thanks to the Minden officers and detectives for the work you do.

Let’s not forget that the police are not always the bad guys.
