Funeral services for Mr. Fred C. Holtzclaw, age 89, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2016 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley with the Rev. Kenneth DeHart officiating. Interment will follow in Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 5 until 8 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church in Cotton Valley.

Mr. Holtzclaw was born on July 3, 1926 to Walter and Marium Young Holtzclaw in Cotton Valley and passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in Springhill. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII and worked as a millwright at numerous mills including, Wilammette, Anthony Forest Products, and Clement and Braswell in Minden. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and reading western books.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline “Sue” Hammontree Holtzclaw of Cotton Valley; five daughters, Susie Mason and husband, C.B. of Biloxi, Mississippi, Anne Stephens of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Maxine Charles and husband, Pete of Cotton Valley, Lora Adkins of Cotton Valley, Marium Denise Holtzclaw of Cotton Valley; daughter-in-law, Vannessa J. Veazy of Cotton Valley; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Holtzclaw was preceded in death by his parents; son, Johnny Veazy; brother, Howard Guy Holtzclaw; and sisters, Eloise Scarborough and Nora V. Simmons.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
