Ms. Freddie Mae Thomas was born Feb. 25, 1942, to Mary Dillard Grider and Theodis Brown Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Calm Baptist Church. She graduated from Webster High School in 1962 and later from Mississippi College.
March 3, 1970, she united in holy matrimony to Donald L. Thomas who preceded her in death Sept. 24, 1994. She worked and retired from Kerr McGee Oil Refinery and Ruskin Manufacturer. Freddie was also a church mother and porter at Victory Praise Worship Center, a true sports fanatic and a number one Grambling State University fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Kara Thomas; brothers, Frank Dillard Sr., Richard Dillard, Johnnie Bill Dillard and Vernon T. Dillard; and her mother-in-law, Minnie Riley.
She leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Romano Dillard Sr. (Shelia), Auturro Dillard Sr., Toronto Thomas and Donald Thomas Jr.; one daughter, Tayama Thomas Shine (Artha); 16 grandchildren, DeVariyia Kennon, DeKiitricias Kennon, A’torri Shine, Cameron Booker, Karen Thomas, Ro’Manthis, Herb’Nathan, Lu’Miracle, Tamiya, Romano Dillard Jr, Amanda, Arturro Jr., Makahila, Zakion, Brooklyn, Braxton Dillard and Taya Hester; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Vernette Dillard; three brothers, Raymond Dillard, Don Dillard (JoAnn) and Walter D. Talley Sr. (Betty Jo); one brother-in-law, Anthony Riley (LaTonya); one sister-in-law, Barbara Dillard; a special cousin, Edith Mims; two godchildren, Kawaski Harris and Sherita Stanley; and a great-granddaughter she reared as one of her own, Brianna Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Victory Praise Worship Center. Interment will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at Miller-Pioneer Funeral.
