Some Germantown Water System customers without water

Some customers of the Germantown Water System are without water following the torrential rainfall in the area.

Residents affected by the outage include Dorcheat Road, Lorex Road and the western end of Blue Run Road.

“Cross drains have washed out and they have taken the water main with them,” System Operator Scott Day said. “We have made some repairs and need to make more, but they are still under water.”

Day said crews are working to restore water to the affected customers and will be under a boil advisory.

“Our hands are kind of tied with water testing because the state labs are closed,” he said. “We’ve contacted the Louisiana Health Department and they said we will call you when they are open.”
