Gerry was born to Ernest and Myrtle Maun in Wichita, Kansas, Feb. 18, 1926. It was in south Texas where she met her husband of 66 years, Norton Tompkins. They married, settled in Corpus Christi and raised two children, Pam and Jim.

Her personal joy came from her participation in family activities. She was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, room mother, PTA leader, as well as actively serving in the Methodist Women’s Fellowship.

In 1974, Norton and Gerry were transferred to Jamaica. She made their home a destination for family and friends. Then in 1982, they returned to Homer and built their retirement retreat on Lake Claiborne. They enjoyed their retirement, traveling throughout the United States as well as to many foreign destinations.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Frank Maun.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Bloxom of Minden and son, Jim Tompkins of Dallas; sisters, Mrs. George Anne Schwethelm of Kerrville, Texas, Mrs. Margaret Birnbaum of Costa Mesa, California and Mrs. Lois Jackson of Katy, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Homer or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Share memories with the family by visiting www.rose-neath.com.
