A memorial mass for Gloria Rentz will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Minden. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Pike Thomas, Concelebrant Rev. Frank Folino OFM and Br. Michael Ward. Visitation will be 10 a.m. with service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Gloria Dell Shirley Rentz, born Aug. 14, 1931, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016. Gloria was born and raised in Shreveport and graduated from Byrd High School, attended Louisiana Tech University, where she met the love of her life and husband of 43 years, Ralph Rentz. They married, moved to Lake Charles and she graduated from McNeese State University. Mrs. Rentz was a long time resident of Minden, the place she and Ralph raised their family.

Gloria was a retired typing/business teacher and taught in Lake Charles, Cotton Valley, and most of her 25 years at Minden High School. She was involved and held numerous positions in various clubs and organizations including teacher sponsor for FBLA, Minden Junior Service League, Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Sorority, the Minden Study Club, and was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church serving in many capacities: Parish council, ladies altar society, choir, teacher, just to name a few. In the last several years while living in Ruston, Mrs. Rentz was a welcomed member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Johnny Frank and Deleatha Shirley, sister Ethel Alexander White, and husband Ralph Lamar Rentz. Mrs. Rentz is survived by her three children: Lamar Rentz and wife Danita of Minden, La., Randy Rentz and wife Amanda of Columbia, Donna Rentz Frasier and husband Robert of Ruston; grandchildren Christina Rentz Martinson and husband Jared, Rebecca Rentz, Michael Rentz and wife Lizzie, Nicole Rentz Brinker and husband Clark, Natalie Rentz Andrews and husband Ricky, Wesley Rentz, Will Rentz, Cassie Frasier Pearce and husband Hunter, Brooke Frasier, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gloria greatly dedicated herself to God, Church, family and friends and leaves this world with many who love and will miss her dearly. She loved spending time with family and friends, football, and music. She spent her final days doing the things she enjoyed most.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Saint Paul’s Catholic Church Altar Society, 410 Fincher Road Minden, La. 71055 or Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Building Fund, 813 Carey Ave. Ruston, La. 71270 or charity of your choice. This is the season of Lent, there will be no flowers placed in the church.
