Handlo Edwards was born to the late Eddie Edwards and Maggie Lee Johnson Edwards on June 19, 1937 in Athens. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour at an early age and united with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Handlo Edwards united in holy matrimony to Asline Harrison and to this union, three children were born: Deborah, Jeffery, and Marlene. He was a member of the Minden Soul Stirrers for 63 years. One of his favorite songs was “Here I am Lord.” His joy was to praise and worship God through song.

He was employed by Madden Construction for over 20 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On Saturday, April 30, Handlo Edwards departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Purvis Washington and Inez Edwards; two grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Sammie L. Cato.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted wife, Asline Edwards; his children: Deborah Cato of Dubberly, Jeffery Edwards (Stephanie) of Dubberly, and Marlene Wallace (Marcus Sr.) of Little Rock, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeweline Edwards of Minden; and a special cousin, reared as a brother, Mack Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
