A Heflin man is in trouble with police after he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend.
Joshua D. Rosenbaum, 26, of the 500 block of Sawmill Road, was charged with domestic abuse battery, remaining after forbidden, disturbing the peace by intoxication, simple criminal damage to property and warrants for no seatbelt and driving under suspension. Rosenbaum also informed authorities he was on probation, according to the police report. Bond was set at $67,260.
Webster Parish sheriff’s deputies John Lewis Jr. and Marshall Merritt responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute between Rosenbaum and his girlfriend at their home and Chasin’ Aces Casino, her place of employment. He reportedly grabbed her by the neck and pushed her head against a wall at their residence and the argument continued after she got to work, police say.
When he drove her to work, he reportedly got into an argument with one of her co-workers, and Rosenbaum’s girlfriend went inside to call authorities. He allegedly took the phone away from her and threw it, causing damage to the telephone.
Rosenbaum was asked to leave the casino and not return. Minutes later, she tells police, he returned and began arguing with her again.
“Mr. Rosenbaum was apparently pretty intoxicated, according to the deputy’s report,” Sheriff Gary Sexton said. “He was extremely belligerent, not only with the officers, but with her and another person at the scene.”
Police say Rosenbaum appeared to have bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. His speech also appeared to be slurred, police say.
When Rosenbaum was questioned about the incident, he told deputies he’d been at home all night. Rosenbaum was taken into custody and placed into the patrol unit.
While in the back of the patrol unit, Rosenbaum allegedly threatened a friend who was helping his girlfriend move her belongings from the home.
Rosenbaum was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he was booked on the above charges.
