In 2014 the Lakeside Warrior Cross-Country teams took the 2A individual girls’ crown and placed second and third in the individual boys’ state meet. Alissa Lander, Eric Greene, and Cody Robinson all return for the 2015 season.
Robinson and Lander, juniors, and Greene, a senior, will lead another strong team under coach Dan Grantham.
The Warriors began their season at the Choudrant Invitational.
In the varsity boys three mile event freshman Tyler Davis led the way finishing ninth at 17:52. Logan Bailey took 35th with a 19:52. There were 109 runners in the boys’ race.
Tynia Joiner finished 66th in the girls’ race running 28:39. There were 99 runners in this division.
In the two mile junior high girls’ division Kaylee Davis led the way finishing 10th at 16:40. Zachary Kerrigan place 15th at 17:24. Finishing 21st was Essence Anderson at 18:03. Alaina Stiles was 26th at 18:22. Egypt Anderson was 33rd at 20:02. Finishing 42nd was Melody Barraclough at 21:46. There were 50 junior high girl runners.
The two mile boys’ junior high race featured 55 runners. Austin Nunn placed 33rd at 16:47. Trent Gordon was 47th at 19:59. In 49th was Jeremiah Brown at 20:50.
Former Lakeside star, Enrique Soto, began his Junior season running a 12:45 3K for 2nd at the McNeese 6K Relay Run. This event featured teams from McNeese, ULL, LSU, and Southeastern.
Next action for the Lakeside teams will be at the Episcopal Round Table Run in Baton Rouge on Saturday, September 12. This meet will feature the top cross country runners in the state.
