High school baseball: Doyline gives new head coach first win

The Doyline Panthers won their first game under new Head Coach Jeremy Miller Monday, defeating Mansfield 17-0 at Doyline.

Taylor Cox went 2-for-3 with four RBI in the three-inning game. Zack Moseley went 2-for-2 with a double. James Dodge went 2-for-3. Dario Galvez had a double.

Cox pitched two innings and Moseley one. Neither allowed a hit and they combined for five strikeouts.

Doyline (1-1) visits Florien Friday.

Elsewhere, Glenbrook fell to Benton 9-3 at Benton. The Apaches trailed just 4-3 after five innings after five innings but the Tigers scored five, all with two outs, in the sixth. Benton (5-0) was a non-select Division I semifinalist last season.

Glenbrook had five singles. Braydon Watkins, Darron Hollingsworth, Kleaton Davis, T Cox and Davis Powell had one apiece.

Glenbrook (0-5) visits Calvary Baptist Thursday.
