High school baseball: Five parish players named to LBCA All-Region I team

Five players from parish schools have been named to the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-Region I team.

They are Glenbrook senior pitcher Easton Sanders, Glenbrook senior infielder Jackson Waller, Minden senior outfielder Landyn Huddleston, Doyline senior pitcher Landon (Noah) Spears and Lakeside senior Jon Jon Dick.

The All-Region I team includes players from Northwest Louisiana in all classes. The players selected were nominated by their coaches.

Sanders, a Louisiana Tech signee who also was a first baseman, batted .420 with 10 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBI. On the mound, he was 6-2 with a ERA of 1.898 and 90 strikeouts.

Waller batted .357 with seven doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 22 RBI.

Huddleston batted .467 with 19 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 29 RBI. He led the Tide in all four categories. Huddleston also had a fielding percentage of .986 with only one error in 70 total chances.

Spears, a Northwestern State signee, had a 1.248 ERA with 125 strikeouts in 67 1/3 innings. He was 7-5 pitching against the Panthers’ toughest competition.

In his five-year career, had a 1.718 ERA with 557 strikeouts in 378 innings.

Dick, who made the team at designated hitter, batted :505 with with 12 doubles, five triples and 31 RBI.

Haughton senior Christian Turner, an Arkansas signee, was named Hitter of the Year. Benton senior Thomas Allen, a ULM signee, was named Pitcher of the Year.
