High school baseball: Lakeside, Doyline win

The Lakeside Warriors and Doyline Panthers picked up wins Monday.

Lakeside defeated Grant 7-3 at Grant. Doyline downed Southwood 14-3 at Doyline.

Elsewhere, Glenbrook fell to Quitman 14-2 at Glenbrook.

At Grant, Lakeside led 4-3 through six innings then tacked on three in the top of the seventh.

Seven Warriors combined for nine hits. Eric Jones went 3-for-4. Gage Williams had a double. He also walked twice.

Williams pitched a complete game and didn’t allow an earned run. He scattered five hits, struck out eight and walked two. 

Lakeside (4-10) begins a three-game series against D’Arbonne Woods Thursday at home at 6.

At Doyline, the Panthers took advantage of 16 walks in the five-inning game. Emery Ransbottom went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Starting pitcher Zack Moseley had a hit and walked twice. Isiaiah Foster, Jesse Quinn and Canaan Estes had two RBI apiece. 

Moseley gave up two hits, struck out eight and walked four in four innings. Quinn pitched a perfect fifth with two strikeouts.

Doyline (4-4) hosts North Caddo Thursday at 5. Southwood dropped to 0-7.

At Glenbrook, the Apaches had seven hits in the six-inning game. Carson Powell and Brayden Watkins both went 2-for-3.

Glenbrook (5-9) opens defense of its District 1-1A title Thursday against Ringgold at 5 at home. Quitman improved to 8-5.
