High school baseball: Late rally lifts Glenbrook past Evangel; North Webster, Doyline win

The Glenbrook Apaches, North Webster Knights and Doyline Panthers picked up wins Tuesday.

Glenbrook edged Evangel Christian 3-2 at Glenbrook, North Webster defeated Simsboro 12-5 at Simsboro and Doyline downed Mansfield 10-0 in five innings at Doyline.

Elsewhere, Minden fell to Haughton 13-0 at Griffith Stadium and Lakeside fell to Northwood 3-1 at Lakeside.

At Glenbrook, Sam Ricord pitched a complete game. He allowed five hits, struck out four and walked only one.

The Apaches had five hits. Seth Mangrum went 2-for-2. Easton Sanders had a double. Dawson Day had two RBI.

Glenbrook rallied from a 2-0 deficit after five innings.

The Apaches cut the lead to one in the bottom of the sixth. Landry Powell led off with a walk. He advanced to second on an error and third on a wild pitch. He scored on a groundout by Day.

Mangrum and Jackson Waller led off the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back singles. They advanced a base on a wild pitch.

Sanders’ double scorer Mangrum and Waller advanced to third. 

Powell singled to second to load the bases. Day hit a grounder to first. Waller was out advancing home but Sanders scored the winning run behind him.

Evangel dropped to 7-7. Glenbrook (5-8), which has won four of its last six, is scheduled to play Delta Charter Friday at 3:30 in the Grace Christian tournament.

At Doyline, Cayden Mingo and Bode Meachum limited Mansfield to one hit. Mingo struck out five and Meachum two.

The Panthers had five hits and took advantage of seven walks and numerous errors.

Dakota Stewart had two RBI. Noah Spears had a double.

Doyline (5-6) is scheduled to play in the Stanley tournament later this week.

At Simsboro, North Webster improved to 8-6. The Knights are scheduled to visit Union Parish in a District 1-3A game Thursday at 5.

At Minden, the game was scoreless after two innings. But Haughton put six on the board in the third and added seven in the fourth.

Brody Bower had the Tide’s lone hit.

Haughton improved to 11-3. Minden (9-5) is scheduled to host Weston at 6:30 Thursday. The game is part of the Northwood tournament.

At Lakeside, the Warriors led 1-0 after five innings. Northwood scored all three of its runs in the top of the sixth.

Lakeside starter Hunter Sutton allowed six hits. Three of those were singles in the sixth. He struck out four and walked one. 

The Warriors had seven hits. Peyton Gray went 2-for-3. 

Northwood improved to 11-4.

Lakeside (6-6) is scheduled to open District 1-2A play against North Caddo Thursday at home at 7. The three-game series is scheduled to conclude with a doubleheader Friday at North Caddo at 7.
