High school baseball: Minden, Glenbrook win

The Minden Crimson Tide and Glenbrook Apaches won Monday.

Minden edged Quitman 5-4 at Griffith Stadium. Glenbrook opened defense of its District 1-1A championship with a 21-0 victory over Arcadia in three innings at Glenbrook.

Minden led 3-1 through five innings. Quitman scored one in the top of the sixth. The Tide then added two in the bottom of the inning on a two-out double by Zander Rowell and a steal of home by Landyn Huddleston.

The Wolverines scored two in the top of the seventh. With runners at second and a third, Landon Brewer ended the game with a strikeout.

Brody Bower went 2-for-3 with a double. Winning pitcher Jaxon Smith had a double and two RBI.

Smith went 6 1/3 innings. He allowed eight hits but didn’t issue a walk. Brewer got the final two outs.

Minden (9-4) hosts Haughton Tuesday at 6. Quitman dropped to 7-3.

At Glenbrook, 20 Apaches made plate appearances. 

Glenbrook scored 12 in the first and nine in the second. The Apaches took advantage of nine hits and 14 walks.

Tony Flynn had a double and three RBI. Landry Powell had two RBI.

Dawson Day struck out all nine batters he faced.

Glenbrook (4-8) hosts Evangel Christian Tuesday at 6.
