The 31st Don Stahl Memorial Tournament hosted by Lakeside begins Wednesday.
There are 12 girls and 10 boys teams competing. The tournament is bracket-style with the championship games and consolation finals scheduled for Saturday.
First-round games will be played in the Lakeside high school and junior high gyms and the Minden Rec Center. Games Friday will be played in the high school and junior high gyms. All games Saturday are scheduled for the high school gym.
Admission is $8 for each session.
Minden is the defending boys champion. The Crimson Tide, who reached the non-select Division II semifinals last season, face Camden Fairview in the first round at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the high school gym. The game is a rematch of last year’s title game won by Minden 62-35.
Host Lakeside plays Benton at 8 Wednesday. North Webster faces Northwood at 6:30 at Minden Rec.
In other first-round boys games Wednesday, Ringgold plays Waco, Texas, at 3:45 at Minden Rec and Gibsland-Coleman meets Arcadia at 8 in the junior high gym.
There will be a new champion in the girls division. Neither 2024 champion Camden Fairview or runner-up Simsboro are in the field.
Arcadia, the non-select Division IV runner-up last year, is back. The Lady Hornets play Benton in the first round at 3:45 Wednesday in the junior high gym.
Lakeside plays Lincoln Prep at 5 in the high school gym, Minden and North Webster face off at 5 in the junior high gym.
In other first-round games Wednesday, Haynesville faces Ringgold at 3:45 in the high school gym, Homer takes on Northwood at 6 at Minden Rec and North DeSoto plays Gibsland-Coleman at 6:30 in the junior high gym.
Games Thursday and Friday start at 3;45. The girls and boys consolation finals are Saturday at noon and 1:30, respectively. The girls championship game is at 3 and the boys at 4:30.
