High school basketball: Lady Tiders down Bossier; Crimson Tide comes up just short against defending state champs; Doyline boys win

The Minden Lady Tiders defeated the Bossier Lady Kats 53-39 in a District 1-4A girls game Tuesday night at Minden.

The Crimson Tide came close to knocking off the defending non-select Division II state champion Bearkats. Bossier scored the final six points of the game to pull out a 59-55 district victory.

Brooklyn Jefferson led the Lady Tiders (12-9, 3-1) with 11 points. She also had 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. 

Jakhiva Johnson scored 10 points and had three assists.

The boys game was a far cry from the first meeting between the teams won by Bossier 62-41 in the “Doc” Edwards Invitational n December. 

Bossier led by as many as seven in the first half but the Tide didn’t let the Bearkats pull away.. 

Bossier scored inside at the second-quarter buzzer to take a 34-28 lead at the half.

Minden still trailed by six after three quarters. But again the Tide rallied.

Minden got off two good shots down the stretch but both went in and out.

The Bearkats got the rebound after both and Kameron Davenport hit four clutch free throws.

Darnell Morris led Minden (11-7, 1-2) with 21 points. 

Cameron Parker and Carmelo Smith scored nine each. Maurice Rabb and Kameron Harris had seven points apiece.

Bossier improved to 17-11 overall and 2-2 in district.

The Crimson Tide and Lady Tiders visit Booker T. Washington Friday.

In a District 1-B boys game, Doyline defeated Quitman 57-41 at Doyline. The Panthers improved to 19-3 overall and 2-1 in district. Quitman dropped to 19-8 and 2-1.

According to GeauxPreps.com, Quitman is No. 5 in the non-select Division V power rankings and Doyline is No. 7.

Doyline visits Weston Friday.

In a District 1-3A girls game, North Webster came up just short against Carroll, falling 38-36 at home.

In a District 1-2A girls game, Lakeside fell to Loyola 42-32 in Shreveport.

The Lady Warriors are playing in the district tournament starting Thursday.
