The Minden Lady Tiders finished runner-up in the Brown Service Center Minden Holiday Classic.
Minden fell to two-time defending champion Arcadia 57-53 in the championship game Saturday night.
The game was a far cry from one early this season between the two teams. The Lady Hornets won by a lopsided margin.
Minden took a 51-49 lead on a follow by Parys Gillins with 2:42 left in the game. Arcadia’s Arianna Williams tied it with two free throws with 2:02 left.
The Lady Hornets (11-5) took the lead on a layup by Jamayah Flowers with 1:30 to play.
Ky’Asia Rogers drove to the basket and scored to tie it at 53 with 1:15 left.
Kennedi Bradford made a wide-open layup off a good assist to put Arcadia back on top.
Both teams had chances to score down the stretch. But the Lady Hornets scored the final two points on free throws by Ryhanna Abney with 45 seconds left and Williams with 20.6 seconds to play.
Arcade’s relentless pressure helped the Lady Hornets win. But overall the Lady Tiders did an admirable job against it.
