The Minden Crimson Tide won the White bracket consolation title in the ‘Doc’ Edwards Memorial Invitational with a 72-41 rout of Haughton Saturday at Airline.
Minden (12-1) rolled to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 40-16 at the half.
The Tide’s only loss in the three-day tournament was to Ruston in the first round. The Bearkats defeated Huntington 75-60 in the championship game behind 6-foot-7 sophomore Ahmad Hudson’s 31 points. It was their eighth straight victory.
Carmelo Smith and Jaiden Franklin led Minden with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Kameron Harris and Darnell Morris had 12 each. Cameron Parker added 10.
Jayden Carey led Haughton (9-7) with 20 points.
The Tide are off until Jan. 7 when they visit Loyola.
Homer won the Navy bracket boys consolation with a 71-60 victory over Mansfield. David Howard III scored 25 points and Demetrius Pitts had 16.
Airline won the girls title with a 72-54 victory over Captain Shreve. Ke’Zyriah Sykes led the Lady Vikings with 32 points.
