Glenbrook Athletic Director James Thurman released the following statement Friday morning regarding the school’s head football coach position.
“At this time, Glenbrook School’s Athletic Director, James Thurman, is acting as interim Head Football Coach. While Coach Greg Tibbitt is not currently coaching the varsity football team, he is still employed at Glenbrook School.”
School officials will have no further comment at this time.
Glenbrook, which has played a tough schedule, is 2-5 going into tonight’s non-district home game against Northwood-Lena.
The Apaches are coming off a 35-15 loss to Cedar Creek.
Tibbitt was hired for his second stint as head coach at Glenbrook in March of 2025. He had previously been served in the position in 2012-13.
The Apaches went 3-6 in his first season back.
Thurman has served as a head coach at Riverdale Academy, Lakeview, Woodlawn and Plain Dealing. He has been the Athletic Director at Glenbrook since March of 2022.
Before going to Plain Dealing, he was the defensive coordinator at Glenbrook and offensive coordinator.
Upon returning to Glenbrook, he served as the school’s boys basketball head coach before becoming the Athletic Director. He has coached a variety of sports in his 26 years as a coach, educator and administrator.
Tibbitt has not returned a request for comment via text message.
