It didn’t take long for the Lakeside Warriors to get on the scoreboard against the LaSalle Tigers in their home opener Friday night.
On the first play from scrimmage, senior running back Taron Riley went around the right side and sprinted 74 yards for a touchdown.
When the game ended, Riley had rolled up 267 yards rushing on 20 carries. He added another TD as Lakeside cruised to a 46-22 victory. The Warriors improved to 2-0 for the first time in three years. LaSalle dropped to 0-2.
“I thought we played pretty good,” Lakeside Head Coach John Ware said. “We had a few penalties here and there we’ve got to clean up. But overall not too bad. We got the job done. That was the main thing.”
The Warriors led 33-12 at the half and 46-14 in the fourth quarter.
Riley wasn’t the only player who contributed to the victory.
Kentravion Miller rushed for 89 yards on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns for the second week in a row.
James Maxie scored on an 8-yard run and caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Brock Case. Case completed 5-of-9 passes for 76 yards.
Defensively, the Warriors were led by linebacker Caleb Barber, who had 5.5 tackles. Jakobe Rankins and Jamarion Evans had 3.5 tackles each.
Eric Jones had 2.5 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Eli Santelices had an interception.
North Webster will look to go tob3-0 for the first time since 2018 when they host Plain Dealing Friday. The Lions (0-2) lost to Ringgold 64-0 last Friday.
Bossier 28, Glenbrook 9: The Apaches (1-1) trailed the Class 4A Bearkats 16-9 at the half and couldn’t come back in the second half.
Bossier (1-1), which broke a 10-game losing streak dating back to Week 2 of last year, used some big plays in the first half to go up 16-7. Easton Sanders kicked a field goal just before the half to get the Apaches within seven.
Bossier played turnover-free ball. Glenbrook, which has been dealing with injuries, only had one but it was costly.
The Apaches travel to Youngsville Friday to play Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy, which has a new program. The Eagles haven’t played yet. They were supposed to open the season last week against Hanson Memorial but the game was canceled because of Hurricane Francine.
