High school football: Minden falls to Northwood

The Minden Crimson Tide fell to the Northwood Falcons 42-16 in a District 1-4A game Friday night at W.W. Williams Stadium.

Minden dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in district. Northwood improved to 3-4 and 3-1.

The Tide struggled offensively in the first half as the Falcons bolted to an 19-0 lead.

According to stats kept for the KASO/KBEF radio broadcast, Minden had just one first down and 29 total yards in the half.

The Falcons put the game away with touchdowns on their first two possessions of the third quarter.

Jakobe Jackson got Minden on the board late in the third quarter on a 10-yard run.

Cameron Mitchell caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Hudson Brown in the fourth quarter.

Brown passed to Maurice Rabb and Jaxson Smith for two-point conversions.

Northwood amassed 400 yards total offense. Hutson Hearron completed 15-of-24 passes for 207 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those came in the first half.

Turner McCabe had five catches for 82 yards, including touchdown receptions of 22 and 38 yards in the first half.

Brown completed 11-of-24 passes for 116 yards. Mitchell had five catches for 99 yards.

Dunovan Robinson led Minden on the ground with 81 yards on 11 carries.

Minden visits Evangel Christian Friday. The Eagles (4-3, 3-1) fell to North DeSoto 38-28 Friday night in a battle for the district lead.
