After a week off, the Glenbrook Lady Apaches and Lakeside Lady Warriors open the playoffs Tuesday.

Both teams had first-round byes.

Glenbrook (22-6), the No. 2 seed in select Division IV, hosts No. 15 St. Edmund (16-11) at 6 p.m. Lakeside, the No. 3 seed in non-select Division IV, hosts No. 14 South Plaquemines (11-14) at 4.

Glenbrook and Lakeside are both looking to advance to the quarterfinals for the second straight year.

The Lady Apaches fell to No. 2 seed and eventual runner-up Opelousas Catholic 4-1 in the quarterfinals last year. The Lady Warriors lost a heartbreaker to Mangham 4-2.

Glenbrook has played a very strong schedule. Four of the Lady Apaches’ final five games were against teams from District 1-5A, including champion Natchitoches Central. The other was against Class 4A Northwood.

All of Glenbrook’s losses have been against teams in 4A or 5A.

St. Edmund, a member of District 1-5A, defeated No. 18 Central Catholic 12-7 in the first round. The Lady Bluejays lost to Opelousas Catholic in the second round last year.

Lakeside also played a tough schedule. District 3-2A opponents Winnfield and Many are seeded fourth and seventh, respectively, in non-select Division III. Cedar Creek is still alive in select Division IV.

South Plaquemines, a member of District 10-2A, defeated No. 19 Ringgold 13-12 in the first round. The Lady Hurricanes lost to Plain Dealing in the first round last year.
