High school softball: Glenbrook wraps up another District 1-1A title

The Glenbrook Lady Apaches completed their second straight dominating run through District 1-1A with a 17-0 victory over Haynesville Wednesday at Haynesville.

Glenbrook improved to 15-13 overall and 4-0 in district. The Lady Apaches outscored their district foes a combined 86-0.

In a game that decided the District 1-4A title, Minden fell to defending non-select Division II state champion North DeSoto 16-1 in four innings in Stonewall.

At Haynesville, eight Lady Apaches combined for 15 hits.

Ellie Earnhardt, Chloe Gregg, Savannah Mangrum, Anna Grace Vining and Hadley Haynes all had two hits.

Vining and Gregg had triples. Emma Garner, Colby Hollis, Gabi Brown and Rebecca Mosley all had doubles.

Vivian Still hit a home run. Mosley and Garner combined on a perfect game. They struck out eight of the nine batters they faced.

Glenbrook has two games remaining in the regular season against 5A opponents Haughton Thursday at 6 p.m. and Ruston Monday at 6.

According to GeauxPreps.com, the Apaches are No. 13 in the select Division IV power rankings. The No. 9-16 team in the final rankings host first-round playoff games.

At North DeSoto, Minden’s Leigha Kennon-Gilbert went 2-for-2. Kylie Ryan had a hit and an RBI.

Minden (14-10, 2-1) is No. 13 in the non-select Division II power rankings.

The Lady Tiders have three games left in the regular season against Calvin at 4 Thursday at Calvin, Loyola at home Monday at 4 and Stanley Tuesday at 5 at Stanley.

North DeSoto (26-4) is No. 1 in the power rankings. The Lady Griffins have won three straight state titles, including Class 4A in 2021 and 2022.
