Minden job fair aims to boost regional employment

by Amber McDown

The Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with several local organizations, hosted a job fair on April 3 at the Minden Civic Center, aiming to enhance employment opportunities in the region.

The event, supported by the City of Minden, Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College (NLTCC), Webster Parish Schools, Coordinating & Development Corporation, and Louisiana Workforce Commission, drew over 50 employers seeking to fill various positions.

Job seekers attended to explore job openings, submit applications, and even participate in interviews. Students from around Webster Parish came out to experience a job fair and perhaps consider a career.

The Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce organizes job fairs twice annually, in spring and fall, as part of its efforts to assist employers in finding skilled labor and to bolster the local economy, according to Stephanie Barnette, president and CEO of the Chamber.

“It’s just our way of helping our employers find skilled labor and helping our economy,” said Barnette.
