Lakeside rising senior Mackenzie McCoy has been named honorable mention on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A All-State team.
An infielder, McCoy led Lakeside in hitting with a .550 average. She had 18 doubles, four triples, four home runs and 39 RBI.
The All-State team was selected by a panel of sportswriters from throughout the state.
Calvary Baptist’s Ramsey Walker was named Most Outstanding Player. Houma Christian’s softball’s Christi Crowdus was named Coach of the Year.
Walker played a vital role in the Lady Cavaliers winning their fourth championship in a row by hitting .583 with 22 home runs and 65 RBI. This year’s win gives the Arkansas signee two Most Outstanding Player awards in the last three years – having won the Class 1A Most Outstanding Player in 2022.
Crowdus guided the Lady Crusaders to the Division III select championship game for their first title game appearance in 15 years, when they were in Class B. Houma Christian went 23-10 behind All-State duo Hailey Henry and Jaydn Yesso.
