High school track and field: North Webster girls fourth in Region I-3A meet

North Webster finished fourth in the girls division in the Region I-3A meet Tuesday at Sterlington.

North Webster scored 65 points. Iota won with 122. Buckeye was second with 99 and Sterlington third with 85.

The top three finishers in individual events and relays qualified for the Class 3A state meet Friday, May 8, at LSU.

North Webster athletes qualified in seven girls events and one boys event.

Andre’a Washington won the 300-meter hurdles in 48.34 seconds. Buckeye’s Shalee Foster was second in 49.64.

Washington teamed with Tatyana Lawson, Kylee Sanders and Xhailor Mcglothan to win the 4X200 relay in 1:47.59. Bunkie was second in 1:47.94.

Mcglothan and Lawson finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 in 12.66 and 12.67. Ville Platte’s Aaliyah James won in 12.51.

Sanders finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 10.5 inches. Mamou’s Jaylasa Arvie won with a 36-7.

Tomiyah Hawthorne finished second in the shot put with a throw of 34-2. Buckeye’s Sophia Morgan won with a 35-4.

Angel Jackson was second in the discus with a 90-4. Jena’s Sophia Parker won with a 96-11.

Kipper Wooten took third in the 100 hurdles in 17.41. Iota’s AnnMarie Navarre won in 16.84.

Javion Hawthorne was the lone state qualifier in the boys division. He finished third in the discus with a 122-5. Northwest’s Frederick Nimer won with a 152-2.
