A homegoing celebration for Sister Irma Jean Ware Harris, affectionately known as “Mama Jean,” will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 118 Pilgrims Rest Road in Doyline, with the Rev. Richard J. Jefferson officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 25, at Benevolent Funeral Home, 401 East Union Street.
“Mama Jean” was born Oct. 18, 1934 and passed away Dec. 21, 2015.
She is preceded in death by her parents Munda and Ivory Nell Platt Ware; her husband, John David “J.D.” Harris; two sisters, Betty Douglas and Annie Douglas; and two brothers, Munda Ware Jr., and William Joe Ware.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Carolyn Cole, Pam Herring, Sharon Doyle and Marilyn Gail Burt; two sisters, Rosie Larkins and Luler Harris, two brothers, Jesse Ware and Lee Ware Sr.; six grandchildren Luther Amos Jr., Decarros Amos, Stacie Harris, Jaycen Herring, Jamie Jackson and Ashley Peeler; and six great-grandchildren Asia, Isaiah, Braylyn, Jamiah, Jeremy and Rhea.
Services are entrusted to Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.
